This incredible plant, Gaultheria shallon, has helped sustain and build the forests of the Pacific Northwest for thousands of years. It binds the soil to help prevent erosion by growing into short dense thickets. Growing in the coastal areas it is prized in the floral trade for its lustrous shiny evergreen leaves where only the tips are harvested creating a healthy symbiotic relationship with man.
We take pride in using salal as the base for most all of our garland. It is one of the longest lasting cut greens in the world and will easily last over three months in a vase! When I ordered my garlands, little did I know that Oregon would be experiencing extreme cold weather and ice storms, making travel and shipping of anything a complete nightmare. Seeded Eucalyptus follows the seasons of Mother Nature and the beautiful seeds are unfortunately unavailable in June. The seasonal pattern begins in late April and May with the seeds giving way to the new spring leaf growth. In June, small micro seeds start developing and by late June and early July we start to have Eucalyptus available again with the smaller seeds. By late July and August we are back in full swing with Seeded Euc and they are beautiful all the way through late winter. We then come full circle again to late spring as it starts to go off crop. Our great relationships with many growers in micro climates all up and down the west coast serves us especially well at this time. We had Seeded Euc available when other vendors were sold out or canceling orders. Every spring is different so we encourage you to place your orders early and see our notices and updates that we put out on our website in late spring thru June regarding Seeded Eucalyptus availability.
